Inaugration of Batch Group of Gampaha

The Minute of the Inaugural General Meeting 2009/2010

Old Boys Union of St’ Peter’s College Gampaha & Udugampola.

Date       : - March 15^th, 2009

Time       : - 10.00 a.m.

Venue    : - Main hall St. Peter’s College Udugampola Branch.

After been gathered 17 of old boys, the meeting was started about 11.00am. with the presences of Rev. Father Siri Cooray, Mr. Tilak Rodrigo, Mr. Bernard Fernando and Mrs Chandani Perera on behalf of the staff and Mr. Suranga Senevirathne and Mr. Lasantha Disanayaka the President and the Vice President of the OBU Colombo.

The opening prayer was conducted by the Rev. Father Siri Cooray followed by a speech.In his speech, he mentioned that there were several factors caused to start the A/L classes at Udugampola. The main reasons were traveling problem and the discipline while travelling. Therefore after having a discussion with the Arch Bishop, he gave the opportunity to start the A/L classes here at Udugampola. Speaking further, he stated that Colombo Mother school and Gampaha branch school cannot be considered separately. Every time the main OBU will help us as our OBU is under the main OBU Colombo. 

Further he stated in his speech, for the future convenience the OBU Gampaha should be properly established and therefore we call upon this meeting today. As a old boy you should have to do something for your school as it has given more for his students. But we don’t worry about the number gathered here today. 

Then the President of the main OBU, Mr. Suranga Senavirathne took time to address the meeting. Starting his speech, he said that we are under One Flag and a One Rector so we are not separated. He said that in Colombo there are batch groups for each year after 1982 and they are organizing several projects. Further he said, that they will let us know when such a project is come into action.  To proceed properly you should have to select a committee for your OBU. As Gampaha OBU even you should have to follow the same constitution which is functioning under the main OBU. Then he made understand us the constitution step by step. After reading the whole constitution we have to accept it as our constitution. Tharanga Perera was seconded the proposal proposed by Binara Promoda. Then it was the correct time to select the office bearers for our OBU. The following members were selected by the old boys who have presented for the up coming year 2009/2010.

In his further speech, he stated that we should have the next Annual General Meeting in a day in the same month before 31^st of May 2010.

Then the newly appointed President Linusha Perera  addressed the gathering and said, “Come let’s work together for the success of our school.”

Then Mr. Lasantha Disanayaka the VP Colombo OBU took to deliver a speech. In his speech he said that, we have a responsibility to do some thing for our Alma Mater. Through the OBU you will meet different people in different states who will give support for you. Further he asked us to collect our old boys as soon as you can. Finally he said, “The member ship of the OBU is an honor to us”.

Once again Rev. father Siri Cooray took to conduct the final prayer for day and said Good Bye for every body.
